Chicago Style, a city’s honest food, is a multi-media project completed as a part of foundation year Communication Design studies at the IIT Institute of Design in Chicago. A book and exhibit were also made as part of the project.

All of the field research was done between January and April of 2006 in Chicago. A Chicago Style Hot Dog was eaten at each of the six stands featured (sometimes cheese fries and a soft drink also).

Rich Bowen and Dick Fray’s 1983 book, Hot Dog Chicago: A Native’s Dining Guide, was helpful in finding the addresses and past reputations of many stands, and was also a good tool to narrow the focus of this project to the city’s best stands.

After the completion of the project, the word on the street is that Fluky’s has closed.
